With the holidays quickly approaching, we think our super hero powers can best be used to creating awareness and providing alternatives to the lead-laced toys and toxin-polluted baby products. This will be the first of a two part mission that will also help moms find alternatives for the scary toxin leaking bottles and cups that have been brought to our attention as of late.
Several issues that require your assistance come to the forefront:
a) How can we help moms keep abreast of all the recalls?
b) How can we assist moms in keeping up with all the recalls when it comes to playdates, daycare, and relatives' homes?
c) How can we have a smooth holiday season without poisoning our kids?
So, here how you can help:
1) Post a widget on your Cafemom Page or our button that links to our Safer Toys & Products page on your blog and encourage your readers to get the recalls on their RSS Feed Reader. We'll be updating our page frequently!
2) Create a post about how you've been dealing with the toy recalls -- both in and out of your home. Have pictures of specific toys you found that were recalled? Have ways that you make sure things are safe when you take your kids over to someone's house? We'd love to know about it. Make sure to send us the link and we'll post them here on the site.
3) Leave your favorite "safe toy and baby product" shops or shopping websites in the comments. We'll compile a list of places that carry safe toys where parents can feel comfortable shopping. Our friends at Cool Mom Picks have a fantastic Safer Toy Guide. If you've found others, or just have a favorite shop, let us know!
